COVID jab walk-ins at The Royal London Hospital for pregnant women

Posted on: 1 December 2021

Are you pregnant and yet to have your COVID vaccination?

The Royal London Hospital's Antenatal Clinic is holding walk-ins every Wednesday and Friday from 11am-2pm.

The Royal College of Midwives (RCM) and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) are urging pregnant women to have the flu vaccine alongside the COVID-19 vaccine this winter to protect themselves and their babies from complications caused by the viruses.

56% of the pregnant in Tower Hamlets have had at least one dose, and 44% have been fully vaccinated.

Studies also show that hospital admission and severe illness are more common in pregnant women, especially those in their third trimester of pregnancy, and that stillbirth and preterm birth is more likely (compared to pregnant women without COVID-19). Pregnant women with underlying medical conditions are at higher risk of severe illness so encouraging and directing women is extremely important.
