Introducing Joy – your digital social prescribing platform

Get support from our Social Prescribing team to understand how the roll out will happen for the newly procured digital prescribing platform.

Posted on: 5 August 2025

Public Health has procured ‘Joy’ a new digital social prescribing platform, following the review of Tower Hamlets community connector roles conducted on behalf of Tower Hamlets Public Health last year.   This has been endorsed by the Tower Hamlets Together Partnership Board as part of the wider work to improve the local social prescribing and community connector landscape. It is being funded by Tower Hamlets Public Health and the North East London (NEL) Integrated Care Board (ICB).

What Joy can do for you

Joy integrates with Optum (formerly EMIS) and is composed of several modular features, each designed to support different aspects of preventative care and social prescribing:

JoyConnect – A referral toolbar embedded within the clinical system (Optum), allowing clinicians to search for and refer patients to local services. Patient information can be auto-populated from the medical record, reducing administrative burden and improving accuracy.

JoyCMS – A secure web-based case management system primarily used by care coordinators and social prescribing teams. It supports notetaking, caseload management, referrals, and follow-up activity.

The implementation process for Joy will take between 6-12 months, so there will be a lot of preparation in order to get to the point where the platform is up and running.
