Come one, come all to our National Social Prescribing Day 2020 event

Posted on: 4 March 2020

Our Social Prescribing team is inviting Tower Hamlets colleagues, partners and residents to their annual National Social Prescribing Day event, which is taking place on Thursday 12 March 2020 in Poplar.

Building on their successful first National Social Prescribing Day last year, this year's event will again be a marketplace-style setup, where guests can enjoy cake and refreshments, while learning about our Social Prescribing service and the upcoming exciting new changes to the service.

Over the last two years, the importance of Social Prescribing has been backed by the Government who in their Loneliness Strategy confirmed that "… all GPs in England would be able to refer patients experiencing loneliness to community activities and voluntary services by 2023."

The service is an important local resource that supports people to improve their health and wellbeing.

In the last 12 months, there has been more than 4747 referrals to about 307 services in the borough, proving the fundamental nature of the resource.

Social Prescribing manager, Sahdia Warraich, said: "We are looking forward to welcoming as many people as possible to learn about the work of our team and how we offer non-clinical, holistic access to community and voluntary services across Tower Hamlets. We hope to see you there."
