GP surgeries / Pharmacies to remain open during the Bank Holiday Easter break

Posted on: 7 April 2020

GP Practices and pharmacies will be staying open during the Bank Holiday Easter break to help ease pressures on the health system due to the coronavirus crisis.

In line with health services across the country and to best manage demand at this very busy time, doctor's surgeries and pharmacies across Tower Hamlets will be open as a normal day on Good Friday (10/04/20) and Easter Monday (13/04/20).

Patients are reminded that they must not to turn up at their practice in person, rather they should use the e-consult service, an online portal where patients can self-check their symptoms, and receive on the spot medical advice 24/7 or telephone their practice, to avoid the risk of spreading the coronavirus.

In line with the Government mandate for everyone to stay at home unless it's essential, anyone with coronavirus symptoms should stay at home and seek advice from NHS 111 Online. Anyone who needs to self-isolate and requires an isolation note for their employer can access one at NHS 111 Online; you do not need to ask your GP for this.

If you think you need a GP appointment, either visit e-Consult  or call your surgery. You'll be asked to give as much information. For many health concerns a telephone appointment with a GP or other health professional will be sufficient to meet your needs.
