Guess the sugar! 0-19 teams at Family Hubs launch

Family Hubs are launching across Tower Hamlets with several fun days organised this summer.

Posted on: 14 August 2024

The Care Group 0-19 teams attended the Family hubs fun day at Ocean’s Children and Family Centre on 7 August to promote their service.

Family Hubs are a new resource for parents and families, bringing together local services and advice for babies, children, young people turning 19 (or up to 25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), as well as Start for Life services for up to two-year-olds.

Attendees enjoyed visual and interactive activities such as, ‘guess the sugar in each drink’, an activity aimed at helping people to guess the amount of sugar in commonly consumed drinks. It is always surprising to learn how much sugar is in them!

Our Child Healthy Weight team promoted the NHS Food Scanner app which allows users to find healthier swaps and see the traffic light ratings for common foods, through a quick scan of the barcode.

Zikra Khan, Child Healthy Weight Advisor, said: “Overall, it was a good event to engage with children, their families as well as colleagues and partners in the borough”.

Over the summer there have been several fun days organised by the Family Hubs across the borough. Join the Parks and Children and Family Centre team, for a community activity day with sports, play, arts and crafts at the remaining upcoming events:
