Haawa project: domestic abuse support for local women

Black and Minority Ethnic Women in Tower Hamlets now have The Haawa Project, a new local resource that provides a range of culturally sensitive assistance and support.

Posted on: 26 July 2024

The Haawa project offers a range of support services, including emotional guidance, practical assistance, access to safe accommodation, and legal advice. It is designed to address the unique challenges faced by women in these communities.

The Care Group are pleased to support this vital local resource, through our collaboration with the Women’s Inclusive Team (WIT).

A spokesperson for The Haawa Project explained more about their mission. They said: “Our mission is to provide tailored support services to Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) women facing domestic abuse.

“We firmly believe in the power of early intervention and empowerment, aiming to help women reclaim their independence and rebuild their lives in a safe and supportive environment. The Care Group’s support in introducing our project to colleagues and residents will undoubtedly contribute to our collective efforts in creating a space that every woman feels safe, supported, and empowered to thrive.”
