How our new Inclusion Officer hopes to improve better representation in our workforce

Posted on: 29 June 2022

We extend a warm GP Care Group welcome to Layla who joins the organisation as the Training Hub’s new Inclusion Officer.

An early project for Layla is supporting efforts for better representation in our organisation. As the GP Care Group and Training Hub are committed to improving Somali representation in our ogranisation, Layla will be engaging with the Somali community in Tower Hamlets to collect profiles from job seekers who are interested in working in the health sector.

We asked Layla to give us an insight into her background and new position. She said:

“My role involves working with local stakeholders to shape, and implement equality, diversity, and inclusion strategies. My position forms part of the Training Hub, but I have been lucky enough to meet lots of colleagues so far throughout the Care Group. I would say the best thing about my role so far is being able to work with a group of talented, fun, and motivated individuals that have made me feel welcome in my new role and a valued member of the team.”
