How we are helping to keep our residents safe

We are committed to the protection and safeguarding of everyone who uses our services, including vulnerable adults, children, and young people.

Posted on: 24 June 2025

At the Care Group, we know that safeguarding is everybody's business and all of our colleagues have a duty of care to safeguard children and adults.

We recently launched our Safeguarding Strategy for 2025/26, with three key priorities around people, learning and partnerships.

The strategy is based on local objectives and priorities, as well as staff feedback. The strategy’s aim is to create a safer, more supportive and knowledgeable workforce which can confidently act upon any safeguarding issues when they arise.

The key priorities are:

  • People: We will prioritise the wellbeing of people by enhancing the visibility of our internal safeguarding team and clarifying our role within the broader safeguarding framework across North East London. We will recognise and respect diversity to reduce inequalities within our communities. Additionally, we will ensure that staff members have access to effective supervision to support them in managing complex cases and improving health outcomes.
  • Learning: We will prioritise a culture of continuous improvement in safeguarding by learning from incidents and practice reviews in collaboration with our partners. We will involve children, their families, and adults in the design and planning of our safeguarding interventions. We will also collaborate with our external partners to offer multi-agency training.
  • Partnerships: We will actively seek feedback from partners and commissioners, and we will conduct an annual staff survey to assess confidence in reporting safeguarding concerns and identify barriers to reporting.

Chris Norton, Deputy Director of Governance and Nursing at the Care Group, said: “At the Care Group we take safeguarding extremely seriously. It is so important that our Safeguarding team is highly visible and working across our organisation and the wider healthcare system to improve health outcomes.

“We look forward to working with local children, their families, carers and other community members to ensure our safeguarding interventions are appropriate and effective. We are confident that this strategy will empower us all to create a safer, more supportive and inclusive environment for all.”
