Hundreds raised for local residents at Tower Hamlets charity quiz night

GP Care group and staff from several GP practices across Tower Hamlets united for an evening of fun, food and fundraising to support local charity group, Neighbours in Poplar. Nominated by the winning team for the meaningful impact of their work.

Teams from several local GP practices and Care Group staff (our best and brightest) gathered for our first Tower Hamlets charity quiz event. The team names we’re weird and wonderful:

The Dream Team | Adam’s Apple | Starting from the bottom now we’re here | La cosa nostra | Beaux belles | Jalebi

An honourable mention to the winner of ‘best team name’ went to: ‘Started from the bottom now we’re here’.

Led by Ballal Seddique, our local GP and quiz master extraordinaire who hosted the fun evening of trivia which included topics from health to history and even included a smell and taste round – only the brave need participate. The night was a resounding success with more than £200 raised by the staff attending.

The winning team’s (Adam’s Apple) chosen charity was Neighbours in Poplar, and so the funds raised will be directed to the charity’s work to enable vulnerable people, especially those living alone and often undocumented, to live fulfilling and meaningful lives within their communities.

Neighbours in Poplar have a long history, dating back to October 1969, as it sought to gather senior citizens from the local community facing isolation for a Christmas party in Pope John House. They continue to deliver outreach projects to support older people in our community including tackling pensioner poverty, meal delivery service, digital inclusion projects and more.
