Our North East London (NEL) Training Hub team has been very active this month inspiring the next generation to consider a future career in primary and community care.
The team has been attending careers fairs across Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest. These events are vital to raising awareness, widening participation, and building a skilled, passionate, and community-connected workforce for the future.
Our first stop, 2 April, was Waltham Forest County Girls School. We showcased the wide range of clinical and non-clinical roles available. Farduse Islam, Operations Manager said: “It was inspiring to see so many students interested in healthcare careers and eager to make a difference in their communities.”
Next, we attended the WorkPath Careers Fair on 10 April at the Tower Hamlets Town Hall, engaging with job seekers, students, and career changers. Many attendees were surprised to learn about the variety of career options beyond traditional clinical roles. Patient support and administration generated a lot of interest.
Finally, at the SPLASH Job Fair, 10 April, at St Matthias Community Centre, we connected with local residents. We shared information about apprenticeships, training pathways, and entry-level roles. The event highlighted how important it is to meet people where they are and show that there’s a place for everyone in healthcare.
Farduse Islam, Operations Manager says: “We’re excited to continue this journey at more events in the coming months.”
