“What can we do to improve the service” and “how can we communicate better with you” were just some of the themes explored at our Tower Hamlets Health Visiting Listening Forums earlier this month.
A good mix of service users, made up of mums and dads along with their young families attended our Health Visiting Listening Forums, which took place across Family Hubs and Children’s Centres in Bow, Isle of Dogs, Wapping and Bethnal Green in April.
The Listening Forum sessions are part of the Care Group’s commitment to understanding and addressing the diverse needs of the people who use our services. The forums were an opportunity to hear directly from parents; to understand their thoughts on the Health Visiting service – both what is working well and areas for improvement. Attendees gave rich and valuable insights, all of which will guide us toward delivering even better care.
Service users said that they were generally happy with the service received but also discussed areas of the service that could be developed. There were good discussions on the mental health and wellbeing of mothers particularly in the period after giving birth. Other suggestions covered improvements to some resources and materials and suggestions for how we can improve engagement.
Kehinde Idahosa, Care Group Locality Clinical Manager, led the session in Bow. She said: “It was a great opportunity to listen to the people who matter most – the service users themselves. While the feedback was generally positive, the mums and dads highlighted some important areas where we could develop the service further.”
The feedback from the Listening Forums will form part of our service development work being conducted for 0-19 services across Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest.
We thank all of our service users who attended the sessions. Do keep visiting our website for further news and updates on our services and follow us on social media.
