Local practices awarded for pioneering environmental sustainability

Tower Hamlets practices are doing more to become environmentally sustainable.

Congratulations to St Stephen's Health Centre which has just been awarded the bronze award for Green Impact for Health by the Royal College of General Practitioners.

Kate Nicholson, GP at St Stephen’s Health Centre, shared what the awards means to her and colleagues: “We have a growing number of ‘green’ members at St Stephen’s and have been wanting to promote this further in the practice. The green impact toolkit is a great way to do this as it gives you examples of ways you can change your practice and promote the process to the other members of the team. It covers all different areas of becoming greener as a practice: building the administrative side and then clinical. It is an excellent team building process and we are so proud of the award.”

Bromley-by-Bow Health Centre has also started their green impact journey, earning their ‘pioneer’ status which is the first step before they’re eligible to earn a bronze award.

See the results of last year's work to establish greener practice in the Green Impact for Health 2024 Programme Impact Report, delivered by Students Organising for Sustainability (SOS) UK.
