We celebrated the invaluable role of nursing in primary care with colleagues from across London at the North East London Primary Care Nursing Conference on 8 May 2025. The conference, held at Leyton Great Hall, brought together nursing staff from across North East London for a day of learning, networking and recognition.
A highlight of the day for us was the long service awards, which honoured nurses who have dedicated more than 25 years to working in primary care. We’re very proud to celebrate our own Jacqui Hodgson, Learning and Development Manager and Clinical Tutor in our Open Doors Team, who received an award and who will have worked as a practice nurse for 30 years this September.
Jacqui said: “Thank you to everyone who has been with me on my primary care journey. I will not be stopping just yet!”
Our Open Doors Nursing Team provided a poster for the conference highlighting the great work we do. The poster showcases the support the team provides to practice nurses within Tower Hamlets. It also summarises our history, being the first area of London to provide bespoke support for nurses working in GP Practices.
The theme for this year’s event was ‘Stronger Together’. It was poignantly held on VE or Victory in Europe day, which celebrated 80 years since the end of World War Two. Observing a two-minute silence, and reflecting on the contributions of nurses, then and now, led to a very emotional and inspirational day for all who attended.
