“Our organisation is very unique” A special visit from the ICB

Posted on: 29 June 2023

Earlier this month, the GP Care Group had a visit from Joanna Moss, Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer for the Integrated Care Board (ICB) to our Headquarters at Island Health.

The visit, on 23 June, provided a good opportunity to showcase our work and the many ways we support our local primary care. The GP Care Group’s CEO (Interim) Zainab Arian, Chair Dr Simon Brownleader and Board member Dr Joe Hall, joined Executive team members and service leads to highlight some of the flagship primary care and community services that we provide.

During the visit, Zainab said: “Our organisation is very unique in the local health system because we act in a dual role. We are a federation for Tower Hamlets practices, who have given us the authority to be their voice for general practice and primary care, which means we sit at a system level and represent the practices and network.

“In addition to this we are a service provider in our own right, delivering 0-19 services, urgent care, Extended Access Hubs, and much more. We cannot do this without having our role as a federation as both are very dependent on each other. It is this uniqueness that makes us special.”

Zainab also expressed the hope of working much more closely with the North East London Integrated Care Board.
