Parents, get extra nursing support for children who are overweight

Posted on: 23 February 2023

Did you know the Child Health Nursery Nurses (CHNN), Public Health and the Healthy Weight Team are running a pilot project as part of the National Childhood Measurement Programme (NCMP)?

By working together with partners in the local authority CHNN provides extra support in five Tower Hamlets primary schools for children who have been identified as being overweight and very overweight following their growth checks.  Childhood obesity is higher in London and boroughs that are more deprived and so NCMP aims to tackle this health issue by data gathered from children.

Zubeda and Terri are the CHNN’s who are leading the charge to provide information sessions and regular one-to-ones with parents. There are also telephone appointments for parents who need interpreters. These initiatives are in place to make it as easy as possible for caregivers to access any help they need.

It must be reassuring to know there is additional to support your child’s wellbeing and health!
