Pilot clinic opened in Brick Lane to support people experiencing homelessness

A new drop-in clinic is now open to provide health screenings for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Posted on: 4 June 2024

We’re excited to see the launch of a new drop-in clinic to address health inequalities faced by socially marginalised populations in our community. NHS England’s Hepatitis C Elimination programme has recently commissioned Transformation Partners in Health and Care (TPHC) to deliver a small pilot project across London to improve access to Hepatitis C (HCV) testing and treatment through primary care for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

This is part of the programmes long-term objective of eliminating Hepatitis C by 2025.

As part of this pilot, a drop-in clinic was launched on Wednesday 24 April 2024 at Health E1 Homeless Medical Centre, 9/11 Brick Lane, London E1 6PU.

The pilot has been co-produced alongside people with lived experience of homelessness and HCV, as well as primary care staff, to ensure that it reflects their needs. The clinic offers bloodborne virus testing for HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C, as well as harm minimisation interventions and liver screening where possible.

Scheduled clinic dates:

  • 5 June 2024
  • 19 June 2024
  • 3 July 2024

The clinic operates twice a month on Wednesdays between 2pm and 5pm and is specifically for people currently experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
