As part of a national initiative, North East London (NEL) Local Maternity System (LMS) is working on plans for maternity services in NEL to reduce inequalities. The aim is to ensure that all mothers and babies in NEL have the best possible health outcomes.
Maternity and neonatal services need to respond to each person’s unique health and social situation so that care is safe and personal for all. As part of a two-step process with NHS England, LMS recently completed an equity and equality needs assessment.
Over the coming months, they’ll be working with maternity stakeholders to hear ideas and suggestions on what should be included in the action plan to improve outcomes for all.
