The National Infant feeding survey is returning, and the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) is contacting mothers who gave birth in August 2023 to take part.
The survey was conducted every five years between 1975 and 2010. The 2023 survey will be facilitated by Ipsos and will be the ninth national survey of infant feeding practices.
The main aim of the survey is to provide estimates on the incidence, prevalence, and duration of breastfeeding and other feeding practices adopted by mothers in the first year after their baby is born.
Invitations to participate in the Infant Feeding Survey 2023 will be sent out to a random selection of mothers who gave birth in Summer 2023. Taking part in the survey is entirely voluntary.
If you do not wish to take part or would not like to be contacted about the survey, all you need to do is complete a short form, and the DHSC will make sure that you are not contacted. If you choose to not take part, it will not affect your care and you don’t need to give DHSC a reason.
