Care Group has successfully recruited our first Physical Activity Clinical Champion in London, Dr Tanveer Rob.
This position focuses on preventative medicine: embedding physical activity into patient care. In Tower Hamlets, where we have a particular need to support the health of our children and young people, this work is especially vital.
He will be providing clinician-to-clinician training to support fellow healthcare professionals in empowering residents with advice about physical activity. Dr Tanveer Rob said: “As an avid runner who has completed over 230 Parkruns and the London Marathon, I'm a firm believer in the power of movement.
“I am excited to get started and keen to collaborate with colleagues across Primary Care, Public Health, and local community groups to build a more active Tower Hamlets.”
Care Group is keen to support initiatives to address Tower Hamlets physical activity challenges, including low activity rates among children and young people, women, people from global majority backgrounds, and older adults. The Physical Activity Clinical Champion role, our Social Prescribing cycle scheme and Dr Bs Exercise Club all form part of growing work in this area.
