The 8-12 month check is all about looking at your child’s development. They are likely to be up on their feet, taking their first steps.
A Community Nursery Nurse will usually carry out this appointment. They will review your child’s health, wellbeing, development and complete a physical review which includes length, weight, head circumference, hip assessment and testes check for boys.
You will be asked to complete an Ages and Stages Questionnaire. Parents are asked to complete this before attending the appointment. The questionnaire is useful as it will help you understand how your child is developing.
The appointment will either take place in your home or in a children’s centre near to you.
We will give you advice about how to encourage your baby’s development and offer advice to promote the health of you and your baby.
