General practice Protected Learning Time programme

The Protected Learning Time (PLT) programme comprises monthly learning sessions primarily aimed at general practice staff. Where possible, this is extended to the wider health and care workforce.

The aim of these sessions is to share knowledge and best practice ways of working to deliver high-quality patient care. The agenda for these sessions are set by the workforce, in partnership with the GP Care Group, to address educational gaps and developmental opportunities.

Cover for staff time

Expenses for closing surgeries to enable staff to attend the monthly protected learning time (PLT) sessions are covered by the GP Care Group. The urgent care service receives telephone calls when surgeries are closed. Surgeries are required to notify our Education team in advance if they wish to request cover for a PLT session.

Enquiries should go to Hope Martin at: nelondonicb.cepn@nhs.net
