Strengthening the communities we serve is part of our DNA.We have wide-ranging social value programmes which all aim to give back to local people and businesses.

While we add social value in everything we do, in deliveringlocal healthcare services and supporting general practice, we have five specific social value workstreams:

  • Promoting environmental sustainability

Our social value workstreams

Promoting environmental sustainability

We are passionate about reducing our environmental impact throughout the Care Group. We have a Green Working Group and Green Champions which help to identify ways to become more sustainable as a business. Inaddition, we have an updated Carbon Reduction Plan which sets out how we aim toreach net zero carbon emissions as an organisation by 2040.

Charitable partnerships / Enabling healthier communities

Our charitable partnerships support local charities who share our commitment to reducing health inequalities and improving the healthand wellbeing of local residents. This includes our support for Cycle Sisters,a Muslim women’s cycling charity. We also regularly carry out fundraising events for social inclusion charity, Neighbours in Poplar.

Training and development opportunities for residents

We offer a broad range of training and development opportunities. For example, we have fully funded maths and English GCSE placesfor adults, delivered in partnership with local colleges. In addition, we offerwork experience to those with autism and learning disabilities, and to those who have been out of work for an extended period. In addition, we engage extensivelywith the community to encourage local people to pursue a healthcare career.

Buy local

We intentionally purchase services from local providers wherever possible. This year we have started work on our buy local programme to ensure that we have even greater impact with every pound that we spend locally.
