What is the service for?

It is for any urgent medical conditions that cannot wait until your surgery reopens.
Please call 111 and they will assess your needs and book you an appointment with the service if appropriate.
If necessary, they will arrange for a GP to visit you at home.

Who is the service for?

This service is for Tower Hamlets (appointments at Royal London Hospital*) and City & Hackney (Home Visiting only) registered patients, residents, and visitors to the boroughs. Please note, clinic appointments for City & Hackney residents are provided by Homerton Hospital. NHS 111 will provide the necessary information when you book your appointment.

Where is the service?

*Due to COVID-19 the service is located at Clinic 1 at the Royal London Hospital off Stepney Way. It works alongside the Urgent Treatment Centre.

How to make an appointment

  • Medical conditions can be looked at while GP surgeries are closed.
  • Information about booking an appointment through NHS 111

If you require urgent primary medical care when your surgery is closed please call 111, if appropriate the team will then book you an appointment to come to see the Out of Hours GP Service.
