The contract will begin on 1 October and run for an initial three years. Care Group originally won the contract in 2016, in the organisation’s third year of operation, and held it ever since.

The Health Visiting part of the contract is significantly different from the current service provision.

Changes include new contacts at four weeks, six months and four years. In addition, the two-year review will be integrated with Children and Family Centres. These contacts are currently in a pilot phase, being rolled out across the borough.

The changes mean that there will be nine contacts in total with parents and their child, from before birth through to when they are four years old and about to start school. Referrals into the Health Visiting service are made by a midwife or GP.

Zainab Arian, Care Group CEO, said: “I’m delighted we have retained this contract, which is such an important part of who we are as an organisation.

“We have made considerable improvements to the service, particularly over the past 12 months, which put us in a strong position to support local families. We are confident that our work, in partnership with residents, primary care, the council and the wider healthcare system, will help reduce health inequalities and give Tower Hamlets children a healthy start to life.”
