Quit smoking - right for every patient
Stoptober is here and it is a perfect opportunity to stop or help someone stop smoking for good.

Raquel Gracia, Substance Use Clinical Lead for the P-RESET service, has shared timely advice on the importance of stopping smoking.
P-RESET supports Tower Hamlets GP Practices to deliver drug and alcohol support to patients. This vulnerable cohort of individuals that use alcohol or drugs can benefit from smoking cessation advice.
Raquel said: “For our group of patients we always refer to the QuitRight team as they are a great intervention.”
QuitRight Tower Hamlets provides support for patients like Robert to quit smoking. He quit smoking through the programme having smoked for many decades. His story proves that it’s never too late to quit.
Raquel Gracia explained it’s organisations like QuitRight and campaigns like Stoptober that can make a real difference to someone’s chances of being able to quit for good.
She said: “The urge to smoke eases for most people after 28 days and joining the month-long campaign can help you be five times as likely to stop for good.”
“Some patients tell you I want to do it myself – you can still use NHS England's personal plan and do it yourself. It’s not just about having willpower but a plan for your triggers and cravings as well.”
Residents can also get medication to help with the symptoms, such as nicotine substitutes and non-nicotine related medications.
If you’re ready to start the journey you can see benefits within 20 minutes. Contact QuitRight or go to your GP to get support and plan your next step to better health.
